“Quarantine is when you restrict the movements of sick people. Tyranny is when you restrict the movements of healthy people.” –Meshawn MaddockLet me ask a few questions. Does not the First Amendment permit you to peaceably assemble? To exercise the right to free speech and prohibit the free exercise of religion? Even though the governor has the right to supersede the first amendment during our current state of emergency, is it right? What will we potentially lose by allowing her to enforce unconstitutional mandates? How many more rights could be taken away? We are standing at a crossroad. And we can’t stand here for too long. The option to take one of the roads is slipping away. We need to act quickly and decisively. Although the solution is a best guess at this point in time, decisions need to be made. The continuation of sitting around hoping for the best is not the solution. The elderly and immune compromised should continue to quarantine—if they so choose. Healthy individuals need to return to work, like yesterday—if they so choose. We need a quick resurgence at maximum capacity, all businesses open and all at once. As citizens, we need to make a conscious effort to patron local businesses and purchase American made products. We need to take our health into our own hands and not rely on questionable and controversial vaccinations for answers. We need to start questioning the narrative about how we came to this place (was it legitimate?) and determine to never get here again. This will require critical thinking which is “the objective analysis and evaluation of an issue in order to form a judgment.” Please, I beg you, wake up. It simply is not enough to listen to the news and follow it in zombie-like fashion. We must take back our God-given and soldier fought-for rights. It is absolutely necessary to the continuation of being a free people. I would love to hear your thoughts! Comment below, I welcome healthy dialogue here.
Guest Post I was admiring my friend Stefani’s boldness on social media and asked her to write a guest post. She’s a believer, a business owner and a small-farm owner, in Oregon. I think what she’s written to share with all of you is important. Just a basic understanding of current economics should leave an individual quite worried. With a survival rate of 98%, Covid-19 is becoming less of a fear while the state of our eroding economy and decaying American rights should leave us in a true state of concern. More and more small businesses are closing their doors for good every day in the United States. The algorithm for what happens next is quite simple. Less businesses=less jobs=less paychecks. Without money, it’s hard to buy food. My great Grandpa Everett was a schoolteacher during the Great Depression. Before he passed away, I asked him to tell me all about what that era was like. He said he could remember sharing his one meal of the day—one can of beans—with 4 other people. He said he was so hungry and that many times he had no idea where his next meal would come from. The reason for our small businesses closing is not because people are falling down dead right and left of us, it’s because our dear Governor Brown has mandated, ordered (let those words sink in) that we are not “allowed” to work. I’m reminded of a quote,
